We have been taking bow hunters successfully for over 25 years. These many years of experience have given us the knowledge required to get you well within bow hunting range. If you have never had the opportunity to hunt elk during the rut, you don't know what you are missing. Crisp cool mornings, elk bugling in the pre-dawn darkness, the musky smell of an elk wallow. All this coupled with the excitement of close encounters with one of natures most intense big game animals, makes for an exhilarating hunt. There is definitely nothing like bow hunting for elk in the wilds of Colorado.

Archery Wilderness Pack-in Hunts

On this hunt we pack into the wilderness to our base camp, deep into the heart of Elk country. The hunting area consists of deep grassy valleys, stands of dark timber, high ridges, and parks of alpine tundra above timberline. Numerous wallows decorate the many secluded basins. Mornings usually include bugling bulls. Afternoons will find you sitting active wallows or high on a ridge glassing elk. All of our guided hunts are 2 hunters per guide and our camps are never overbooked. Even though our camps are extremely remote they are still well outfitted. We also have spike camps that are set in even more remote areas that seldom see a hunter. We specialize in small camps and high success. Archery wilderness trips are 6 days of hunting with a day of travel at each end to make an 8 day total trip. Wilderness trips are also available Semi-Guided. On a semi-guided trip we provide a fully outfitted camp and food. Camp accommodations are the same as a guided trip, but you will be hunting without a guide. Do take into consideration guided hunters have a much higher success rate. Having a guide that knows the country and the game by your side is invaluable.

Wilderness Pack-in Timberline Mule Deer Hunting

For this hunt we pack deep into the Uncompahgre Wilderness and hunt these Monster Mule Deer above timberline and beyond. Each summer these big boys call this area home. We spend July and August glassing these bucks and have found great trophy potential. Come late August, when archery season starts, we pack-in a small camp of bow hunters and employ spot and stalk tactics to harvest these trophies. This is the most action packed hunt available today.

These mule deer are living in extreme altitudes and tremendously tough country. If you are up to the challenge the game is there for the taking.

Archery Private Land Elk and Mule Deer Hunts

This is a great combination elk and mule deer bow hunt. There are also a lot of color phase black bears, and a private lake full of rainbow and brook trout. Our ranch adjoins a large tract of the Uncompahgre National Forest with the only access through private land. It also adjoins a state wildlife area. The ranch offers a great bow hunting opportunity seldom found today. This hunt has produced several P&Y quality animals over the years, and it just seems to get better each year. You will stay in a nicely equipped cabin. We developed this hunt as a hybrid of a guided hunt and a drop camp. You are provided with lodging, 2 home cooked meals, plus a sack lunch each day, pack horses, tree stands and a guide in camp to show you the ranch. This hunt allows you the freedom of a drop camp, to hunt on your own without all the cooking and camp chores. All you have to do is concentrate on bagging that big bull or buck. You are outfitted with everything you need to have a successful bow hunt. If you like the challenge of hunting on your own with all the extras of a full service hunt, this is the one for you. These are great hunts for the veteran bowhunter and novice alike.
